I have heard that copper can be toxic, is there a risk of copper toxicity from using these bottles?
The short answer is ‘No’. The levels of copper in the water are completely safe. Copper toxicity is only an issue if you ingest it in large quantities. It is known that water containing levels over 1.0 mg/L should not be used for drinking. However, in all experiments conducted using copper water vessels, the copper content of the water contained low levels which are healthy for you.

How much copper infused water should I drink in a day?
It is highly unlikely that you will drink too much copper infused water. Studies have shown that the copper trace that is found in water after it has been stored in a copper vessel is low and totally safe for consumption. We recommend that 1 litre of copper infused water is drunk a day.

Where is copper found?
Copper itself is a natural element found in the earth’s crust. Copper is formed by high temperatures of volcanic magma creating hydrothermal veins. It most commonly occurs in combination with other elements although can be found in pure form.

Is copper good for the environment?
Yes! Not only is it a wonderful replacement for plastic bottles but it is a relatively soft, malleable material, meaning that it can be shaped without breaking. Because of these qualities and it being an element, copper can be recycled numerous times and yet retains its quality.

What can the copper bottle do that my at home water purifying system cannot?
Today’s ‘at home’ water purifying systems vary in their sophistication and ability to purify water from the taps. You can get some excellent ones that get rid of the harmful bacteria, viruses and chlorine etc. and yet others that are limited. However, a copper vessel is able to not only purify the water but also charge it with added health benefits. Using normal tap water in your bottle is fine and you will radically improve the quality of the water. However, using a water filter first to rid the water of chlorine and other chemical residues would be best.

Each of our bottles is shaped from a single sheet of pure copper with no joints or seams and capped with a leak-proof cap made of pure copper and a food-safe seal.

Can drinking from a copper water bottle cure my copper deficiency?
For those with a copper deficiency, drinking water from a copper water bottle can help. However, if you are suffering from a copper deficiency you must consult your health practitioner.

Will I taste the copper in the water?
It is most likely you will just experience the smooth, delicious taste of pure, clean water. However, you may get a hint of a copper taste. This would probably be due to a slight copper build-up on the inside the lid. If this happens, follow these instructions to clean your bottle and lid.

Can my copper water bottle create alkaline water?
Yes, storing water in your copper water bottle for 6-8 hours raises the pH level and makes the water alkaline which has many known health benefits.

How often should I clean my bottles?
The bottle has self-cleaning properties so there is no need to wash it every day but we recommend you clean your bottle using our instructions about once a week.

Should I clean my water bottle for the first time before using it?
Yes, you should follow the cleaning instructions before using it and then repeat weekly.

What type of water should I use in my copper water bottle?
You can use any type of water in your copper water bottle, including tap water, water that has been passed through a filter, or even bottled water. (However please make sure the water is not hot). You will probably notice the greatest difference with tap water, which is generally the least alkaline and in need of the most care. Although tap water is generally fine in most first-world cities, you may want to filter your water before pouring it into your copper water bottle.

My bottle is looking old and worn, why is this?
Copper naturally oxidises and this changes its appearance over time. As your bottle is 100% copper this may happen – it will patina on both the inside and outside of the bottle. Many people like this graceful, ancient appearance. However, if you would rather have the copper shine, follow the simple instructions.

Can I use juices or fruits such as lemon in my copper bottle?
We recommend that you only use water because copper can react with acidic liquids (anything with a pH of less than 7). If you want to flavour your water then add this to the glass once the water has been poured from the copper bottle.

Can I use hot liquids and tea or coffee in my copper bottle?
Do not put hot liquids or tea or coffee in your copper bottle as the copper may react to the heat and the acidity of those ingredients.

It looks like there are scratches on my bottle, is it damaged?
Our Copper bottles are handmade using 100% copper which is a natural element and is softer than other materials. As such, they can dent and scratch more easily than stainless steel bottles, and some may have slight natural imperfections.
